About Jeff Rushton
CRM by definition means Customer Relationship Management, yet it seams that every application on the market claiming to be a “CRM” solution has its own definition. I guess anything that has to do with the customer relationship could be defined as a CRM solution. Although I’ve never understood why clearly targeted sales software feels they fall into the realm of CRM. Maybe it’s the fact that you can send an email or schedule an appointment but other than that, it’s clearly sales software. It helps you develop your pipeline, manage your sales numbers, monitor your sales team and everything from the core seems to be sales oriented. Obviously there isn’t anything wrong with this, every company needs a good sales software solution.
When you’re out looking for a CRM, make sure you understand the core or foundation of the application you are investigating. Some applications were built around a sales solution and only recently decided they needed to become a CRM because it’s another market they can easily “claim” to be in. The same thing happens with traditional CRM solutions, they try and go into the sales realm and often times fail miserably or simply don’t provide enough sales management to really run a sales organization. Try to do your homework before you jump into bed with one of these companies. Although you might be able to make it work, why make it work when you can find a solution catering to your industry, business or internal needs. There are plenty of CRM solutions on the market, find the one that has all of the features you need and was built on the foundation that is paramount to your business (whether it’s the sales process or the customer relationship).
Obviously I work for a CRM company (www.clickpointsoftware.com) and we readily admit that our system was built and designed around the customer relationship starting from them as a lead and concluding with the ongoing marketing that takes place after the sale. We started out targeting the mortgage and lead industries and plan to move up-stream and tackle other markets. Obviously our strength is in acquiring leads and taking them through the whole process until they reach the stage of on-going marketing (then from there it’s all automated using our Triggers system). We are unique in the fact that we have integrated with several 3rd party systems to help provide the customer relationship well beyond an occasional email. You can use our CRM solution to click-to-call your customer/leads, or setup a dialer, do direct marketing campaigns and track the whole communication thread for the life of the lead.
We’re not the end-all-be-all of CRM solutions…but if you’re in the mortgage or lead industry (and in the future, other industries) you might find that our system has the most pertinent and powerful integration and native features on the market.

| "Before Lead Pro we had to rely on customers telling us if the leads were good.
Now we know in real time who performs and who doesn’t. We know how to spot
a bad banner campaign before we lose a customer.
